Georgia Anne Muldrow - Run Away

I’m not going to lie, I was first made aware of her existence on the Mos Def song Roses.  She did a great job and now I find this song which sounds beautiful. the video is nice too.

Stevie Wonder - I Don’t Know Why

I know I posted this already but this song is amazing to me.  I listened to some of the covers and nobody could match his version.  The energy and emotion on this song is amazing.  He matched the live version. that’s amazing.

Robert Flynn’s covers for Impulse!

The Impulse! label LP covers by Robert Flynn / Viceroy are among the best of a great era. Yet this 1966 sleeve for John Coltrane’s turbulent, single-track album Ascension doesn’t attempt to represent the sound of the music.
But all the elements in the design – the portrait, the typography, the use of colour and white space – express the idea of Coltrane’s work, always questioning and questing. The album cover communicates immediately that this is serious music. Not pop, not classical, not straight-ahead jazz, but something else.
Eye is available from all good design bookshops and online at the Eye shop. For a taste of the magazine, try Eye before you buy.

Mos Def & Talib Kweli - History (Feat Amber Coffman & Haley Dekle of Dirty Projectors)

Damn man, this vid just made me remember why I love Blackstar and how badly I wish they would come out with a new album. On second thought, just appreciating their first album will definitely suffice. They’ll never make another album like that so if they just left the Blackstar legacy on that note, it would be just fine.

And I’m still trying to find out who thought Jimmy Fallon was funny enough to have his own show. Seriously, that dude is very awkward and very unfunny.

BUT, I really shouldn’t complain because he does consistently have the best musical guests out of all the late night shows on NBC. Conan used to.

Homework:

Blackstar - Definition <—2:10 “What are you deaf?” “No, he’s Hi-Tek.” “Yeah, he’s Def.”

The Dirty Projectors - Cannibal Resource
